Green Ghia
The Jade Green Ghia was built during 1992 and first apeared at the shows in 1993. The bodywork is still as good as the day it was finished. Since its creation it has had a few modifications including 2 complete new interiors. It was sold in August 2005 to Travis Rider's dad Kinky Ken, and we believe it couldn't of gone to a better home.

Engine Spec: 2165 cc> Berg 78mm crank, VW stock rods balanced polished with clearances, Mahle barrels, Mahle 94mm pistons, Berg 311 cam, Street Eliminator heads ported with 42mm intake and 38mm exhaust stainless steel valves compression ratio 8.8-1, Bosch 009 distributor, Compu Fire coil, Weber 48 IDA carburettor, Berg inlet manifolds, Porsche fan housing with external oil cooler, custom made stainless steel exhaust header & mufflers. Gearbox Spec: R&P 3.875-1 Gear Ratio's 1st 3.80 2nd 2.06 3rd 1.26 4th 0.88, super diff, Welded 3rd & 4th.

The Coral Pink Oval was built in 1995 for Carol but after an accident it was rebuilt into the Blue Oval. The engine was eventually fitted to the Ghia in 1998, but the heads were changed to Performance Technology with bigger valves.

Engine Spec: 2007 cc> Pauter Machine 78 mm crank, Pauter chromoly rod,s Cima barrels, Cima pistons, 90.5 John Maher ported and polished heads with 40mm inlet valves and 37.5 mm exhaust valves (stainless steel) compression ratio 8.0-1, Engle V26 cam, Scat cam followers, Autocraft 1.4 rockers, Scat deep sump, Bosch 009 distributor, Weber 44 IDF carbs, Berg inlet manifold, Berg 1.5 merged header, A1 muffler.
Gearbox Spec: Stock VW rebuilt and modified to accept 200mm flywheel.

The Dark Lord Blue Oval was a 'body off' rebuild of the Coral Pink Oval after the accident in the winter of 1996/97 and debuted at the Volksworld show 1997 where it won Best of Show. Since then Bernie has had great fun racing it with a best ET of 11.93. In 2000 he decided that to go quicker he had to strip the Oval, which he didn't really want to do, or build another car. The Oval was sold in 2002 and has been changed to suit the new owner.

Engine Spec: 2387 cc> Rimco case bushed lifter bores, shuffle-pinned, full flow oil with Oberg filter. S/Steel braided oil hose. 10mm Autocraft studs. Pauter 86mm crank, 5.7" Pauter chromoly rods, Weisco 94mm pistons, Total Seal rings, Jay-Cee extra long barrels, Babe Erson hard weld cam (280 dur. x 393 lift), Pauter 1.4:1 billet roller rockers = 550 lift Berg pushrods, Berg straight-cut cam gear. Performance Technology heads with stainless steel valves and titanium retainers (47x37), running 12.5:1 c/r, Berg 30mm oil pump, Berg oil pump face Berg Equalizer Pulley, Berg 160,000 psi pushrods, Type 4 push-rod tubes, Berg breather box, Berg carburetor linkage, Berg heavy duty pulley bolt, Berg gland nut, Berg clearanced cam followers, Berg 3.5 qt sump, Berg-modified 51.5mm Weber IDA's on WeldedSkat Trac manifolds, Berg 1 3/4" merged header with stinger, A1 S/Steel muffler for the street, Holley blue fuel pump and Holley red regulator, 1/2 braided fuel line supply fuel. Ignition: Complete MSD 3 step to include dial in limits for burn-out, launch & rev limit, MSD Billet distributor, MSD Blaster coil, Taylor 8mm ignition leads, Autometer dial-in shift light box. Gearbox Spec: Autocraft case, 3.88 r&p, 1st4.25, 2nd2.54, 3rd1.78, 4th1.37 gears. Berg axles, Quaife l.s.d,Berg solid front gearbox mount, Berg solid rear mount, Berg Super Street clutch plate, Berg balanced 2300lb pressure plate operated by Neal hydraulic pedal assembly.

As Bernard had a lifelong love of gasser-style race cars ‘Stitch Up’ debuted in 2005 with a completely new engine, new paint, new graphics, new trim and even new wheels. Bernies long term ambiton was also achieved by gettting it into the 10s just weeks before his 60th birthday.
